A new report from the National Business Group on Health reveals that companies investing in comprehensive mental health programs see an average return of $4.20 for every dollar spent, driven by reduced absenteeism, lower turnover, and improved productivity.

The analysis examined 200 mid-to-large employers and found that programs including employee assistance resources, manager training, and on-site counseling yielded the strongest results. Companies offering mental health days saw a 15 percent reduction in burnout-related attrition.

Despite the clear financial benefits, only 40 percent of U.S. employers currently offer robust mental health support, with small businesses lagging significantly behind larger corporations in program adoption.
