The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced today that measles cases have dropped by 70% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The decline follows an aggressive nationwide vaccination campaign launched in late 2025 targeting underimmunized communities.

Health officials attribute the success to mobile vaccination clinics, school-based outreach programs, and partnerships with community organizations. The initiative reached over 2 million previously unvaccinated children.

Despite the progress, the CDC warns that continued vigilance is necessary, as pockets of low vaccination coverage remain in several states and could fuel future outbreaks.
