A landmark study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association has found that taking short walking breaks every 30 minutes significantly reduces the risk of heart disease among sedentary office workers. The research, conducted over three years with more than 8,000 participants, showed a 22 percent reduction in cardiovascular events.
Participants who walked for just three to five minutes every half hour saw measurable improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar regulation. The benefits were consistent across age groups and body types.
Fitness experts say the findings could reshape workplace wellness programs. Several technology companies have already begun integrating timed movement reminders into their employee health platforms.
