ACA Open Enrollment Extended Year-Round in 12 States Starting 2027

Twelve states have announced they will offer year-round ACA marketplace enrollment starting January 2027, eliminating the restrictive annual enrollment window that left millions uninsured after missing deadlines.

Participating States

California, New York, Colorado, Washington, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, Oregon, Vermont, and Rhode Island will allow enrollment at any time.

Impact

An estimated 2 million additional Americans are expected to gain coverage. Life events like job changes, moves, and income fluctuations will no longer require navigating complex special enrollment period rules.
